Devil’s Food Cake

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla
- 3/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray three 9-inch round cake pans generously with cooking spray.
- Beat sugar, butter, egg, vanilla and almond extract in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time. Mix in cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Beat alternately with buttermilk on medium speed. Beat one minute longer.
- Pour into prepared pans. Bake 26 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 15 minutes, remove from pans to wire rack. Cool completely. Pair with buttercream frosting recipe liked in description.
