Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloved
- 33 sheets Fillo dough
- 1 cup butter, softened
- Syrup from Baklava (recipe linked in description)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine walnuts, sugar, cinnamon & cloves
- Brush 12"x17" baking pan with butter. Place 6 buttered Fillo sheets on bottom. Sprinkle with 1/3 of walnut mixture. Place 6 more buttered Fillo sheets on top, then 1/3 more walnut mixture, top with another 6 buttered Fillo sheets and the rest of the walnuts. Finish Baklava with another 15 Fillo sheets, and brush with remaining butter.
- With a very sharp knife, score Fillo into 1 - 1/2" diamonds or squares. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until golden brown..
- Cool slightly and pour warm syrup evenly over Baklava. (See our recipe in description).
- Allow to cool completely, cut and serve.
