Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups sifted Pillsbury's BEST All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (or substitute almond butter)
- 1/2 cup sugar (plus more for rolling)
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 bag chocolate kisses

- (Tip: remove foil wrapping from kisses first)
- Preheat oven to 375ºF
- Sift together flour, baking soda and salt and set aside
- In large bowl, cream together shortening and peanut butter. Gradually add sugar and brown sugar, creaming well
- Add unbeaten egg, milk and vanilla
- Blend in the dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly
- Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Roll in sugar; placed on cookie sheet (ungreased, lined with parchment paper preferred)
- Bake at 375º for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and place a solid milk chocolate kiss on top of each cookie while still hot, pressing down so that cookie cracks around the edge.
- Return to oven; bake to 2-5 minutes longer.
- Allow to cool for 2 minutes before moving to tray or container (be careful of stacking, kisses will squish)
