One day in the 1980’s Dottie exchanged favorite appetizer recipes with her secretary Jean Slivka at Jones Day. This particular recipe turned into a staple, well-received party food at the Palazzo household every since. Thanks, Jean!

Instructions
- Break sausage into small pieces and cook in frying pan until throughly cooked and browned. Drain off excess fat.
- Combine in a bowl: cooked sausage, green peppers, 1 egg and all seasonings.
- Lay out crescent roll dough in flat surface; pat dough to smooth over and pinch holes in dough closed with fingers.
- Cut dough in half down the middle to make two squares.
- Spread sausage mix evenly over dough, leaving a little margin on the outer edges.
- Spread Swiss cheese evenly on top.
- Roll each dough square with your hands into a log. Make sure that the weight of the roll is securely on top of the dough edge, or the log will start to unroll as it bakes.
- Beat one egg white and brush or spoon over the two rolls, to create a glaze as the rolls bake.
- Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let set for 15 minutes before cutting into diagonal slices and serving promptly.
- Make ahead and keep in the refridgerator for up to 2 days before baking. Or bake ahead and freeze for up to one month before microwaving to serve.
